After 25+ years developing FPGAs for companies such as Altera, Xilinx, Lattice, and AT&T Bell Labs, co-founders Sammy Cheung (President and CEO) and Tony Ngai (CTO and SVP Engineering) realized that there had to be a better way to make programmable products that really solved customers’ problems. They founded Efinix® in 2012 with a mission to build a disruptive, efficient, flexible FPGA fabric.
They designed their new architecture, Quantum, to be:
- The leading programmable technology delivering the best power, performance, and area (form factor) for silicon products
- The most flexible programmable technology tailored for compute-intensive applications including compute acceleration, machine learning, and deep learning
The Trion FPGA family, which is built on the disruptive Quantum™ technology, delivers a 4X Power-Performance-Area advantage over traditional FPGA technologies. Trion FPGAs, offering 4K to 200K logic elements (LEs), have a small form factor, low power, and are priced for high-volume production.
